CIDESCO ESTHETICS COURSE DESCRIPTION
CIDESCO Esthetics: Standard Occupational Classification (SOC 39-5094.00) (CIP 12.0409):
The comprehensive 1200-hour CIDESCO Esthetics Program satisfies the 1000 hours of training required to obtain Georgia Esthetician License while completing the academic and practical requirements for the internationally respected CIDESCO Beauty Therapy Diploma, and CIDESCO Advanced Certificates in microdermabrasion and skin peeling. Candidates also complete advance training sessions that expose them to areas that support their growth and development. Through this advanced curriculum that blends scientific knowledge, clinical techniques, business development, and global beauty standards/vocabulary, product and ingredient knowledge students gain the skills and confidence to excel in medical spas, luxury spas services, advanced skincare clinics, education, entrepreneurship, and international career opportunities.
Graduates are prepared to become entry level estheticians.
This course is taught in English. Textbooks and course materials are only offered in the English Language.
cidesco ESTHETICS COURSE OVERVIEW
Course Hours: 1200 clock hours
The course is divided into classroom instruction and clinical learning experiences
- Classroom Instruction: The first 250 hours are devoted to theory classroom workshops, demonstrations, and practical training. You will learn CIDESCO principles, technical information, and professional practices. After your first 500 hours you will spend a portion of your time in the classroom during which you will be introduced to case studies, project with Portfolio of Evidence, body treatments, emerging technology, prescriptive selling, self-improvement, and motivational guest speakers. After completing 1000 hours, you will participate in CIDESCO final phase classes that specifically prepare you for the CIDESCO international examinations.
- Clinic Classroom Learning Experience: After the first 250 hours of classroom training, a portion of the remaining 1000 hours is spent on the theory clinic classroom where you will be guided with individual attention and group learning experiences using workshops, monthly worksheets, practical evaluations / mock exams developed specifically for monitoring progress. This is also when you begin working on paying clients in the clinic classroom area.

Your time at Paul Mitchell The School Esani Esthetics Program will be divided into three phases:
- Esthetics Core Curriculum: This 250-hour time period is dedicated to exploring foundational knowledge and basic esthetics facial, hair removal, and makeup procedures. You will receive individual attention in practical workshops, and you will complete monthly worksheets and periodic tests throughout the course. This is an intense and exciting portion of your experience. If enrolled in the hybrid program, 60 of these hours will be via distance education.
- Adaptive Curriculum: You will enter a new phase of classroom workshops coupled with challenging practical services that will continue to build you into a confident skin care therapist. During this phase of your learning you will use the technical and therapeutic abilities acquired so far in the program, coupled with the assistance of Learning Leaders, to provide service to guests. You will make discoveries and learn relationship-building skills that will ensure your success in this exciting, diverse field. For this phase of the program if enrolled in the hybrid program 120 of these hours will be via distance education.
- Creative Curriculum: You will dress, act, and work like a beauty industry professional. You will use your own technical and therapeutic abilities, coupled with the assistance of Paul Mitchell The School Esani Learning Leaders, to prepare yourself for your future salon and spa career. For this phase of the program if enrolled in the hybrid program 170 of these hours will be via distance education. Additionally, you will write papers, complete projects, perform additional treatments, complete case history booklets to enhance your skill and knowledge as a skin care professional. You will also be required to take practical and theory examinations required as part of the CIDESCO education curriculum.

Pre-clinical Phase: The student is required to complete a minimum of 250 hours of classroom training consisting of the following subject matter and achieve a minimum score of 75% before they can progress to the clinic floor.

Clinic Phase: After the student completes the first 250 hours of classroom training the student must cover the following subjects, which will include clinic floor services performed on guests and classroom training.

The institution offers employment assistance to help graduates’ efforts to secure education-related employment that includes, but is not limited to training in professionalism, resume’ development, job interview preparation and job search skills.
cidesco ESTHETICS PROGRAM TESTING AND GRADING PROCEDURE
The following tests and grading procedures are used to assess student learning and mastery of course content in the 1200-hour course:
- Academic theory exams: Student must receive a grade of 2.0 (75%) or higher on each assigned lesson plan theory test.
- Core written and practical skills evaluation: Students must receive a grade of 2.0 (75%) or higher on each written exam and each practical skill exam in order to complete the Core program. All Core written and practical skill exams must be passed with a 75% in order to transition to the Clinic Classroom. If students are unable to pass each exam after two attempts, the student may be asked to withdraw from the program and re-enroll in the next available Core class start date.
- Mid-Level: This test is an overview of all related esthetics subjects (e.g., anatomy, chemistry, etc.). Students must receive a grade of 2.0 (75%) or higher on all final tests.
- Final exam: The written test covers an overview of all theory instruction, Georgia state law, and other items covered on the state esthetics exam.
- Clinic Practical Skill Assessments: Future Professionals progress in practical skill assessments and theory hours will be digitally monitored on a weekly basis by the Future Professional Advisor using the MyPortico app. All assigned practical skill assessments must be completed in order to complete the program.
- Distance education assessments: Students must complete a distance education written assessment and practical skill assessment. These are based on performance and must be completed on-campus each month. The distance education assessment will focus on the distance education subjects covered during that time period. Students must receive a grade of 75% or higher on each distance education written assessment and each practical skill assessment. Only students enrolled in the distance education program are required to complete these assessments.
- CIDESCO Final Phase: Two additional practical and two theory examinations: One project which includes the requirement to write a paper, to perform 3 treatments on 3 clients and complete case history booklets for each client.
